NEW RPG GAME ANNOUNCED FOR 2019 IN HONOR OF DIGIMON ADVENTURE'S 20th ANNIVERSARY

In celebration of the 20th anniversary of the classic anime Digimon Adventure, Bandai Namco Entertainment has announced the new release of the survival RPG game, Digimon Survive, following on the heels of the latest game in the series, Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth – Hacker’s Memory, which was released on PS4 and PS Vita.

Within Digimon Survive is an original story, separate from the anime show. The story of the game involves four teenagers who get lost in the wild while on a camping trip and stumble onto a strange new world of mysterious Digital Monsters. The story is led by Takuma Momotsuka, a junior high school student who becomes partner with Agumon. Each of Takuma’s friends get their own partner Digimon and together, they brave death and danger in order to get out of the bizarre dimension that they’re trapped in. Decisions will have to be made in order to continue on in this strange and nostalgic world.

The announcement trailer of the game teases two distinct gameplay styles. One part of the game will play out like anime scenes in beautiful 2D animation where players’ choices on dialogue and actions will determine the development of the story and the evolution of the Digimon. The other part will rely on strategy game-style when the Digimon battles occur. Players can move their team of Digimon on the battlefield to fight enemies and actions will require energy and the ability to digivolve and fight against powerful enemies will depend on the characters’ bonds with each other.

The characters are designed by Uiti Ukomo with music composed by Tomoki Miyoshi. The role-playing game is slated to be released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC in 2019.
