Based in Los Angeles, Toei Animation Inc. is responsible for the program licensing of Toei Animation-produced series to North America, Latin America, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. Toei Animation’s Los Angeles office also handles all categories of consumer product licensing based on its film and television properties within these territories.

Toei Animation is the pioneer of Japanese animation.

Since Toei Animation Co, Ltd was founded in 1956, we have been producing numerous works of animation in the front line of the industry for over half a century. We boast Japan's largest and a world-class library, which comprises of 239 theatrical features and 220 TV programs, totaling 12,569 episodes (as of September 2018). We are sure they include some of your favorites from childhood. There are also many works that transcend generations and are enjoyed by parents and children alike, which, to an animation company, there is no greater joy.

A subsidiary production company that produces key drawings, inbetweens, backgrounds, and CG, where approximately 70% of the work of all our productions are handled.
 

TOEI ANIMATION ENTERPRISES LIMITED (Hong Kong)


Established as our base in Asia, it contributes greatly to our expansion of our overseas business.
 

TOEI ANIMATION EUROPE S.A.S. (Paris)


Established as our base in Europe, it also handles business in Eastern Europe, Russia, the Middle East, and Africa.
 

TOEI ANIMATION SHANGHAI REPRESENTATIVE OFFICE

History of Toei Animation


  • NIHON DOGA CO, LTD (Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo) is established and begins production of animation.

  • Company name changed to NICHIDO EIGA (FILM) CO.

  • NICHIDO FILM CO. purchased by TOEI CO and renamed TOEI DOGA CO.

  • Production studio moved to Ohizumi Nerima-ku, Tokyo.

  • Completion of our first short animation film "Little Kitty's Graffiti".

  • Completion of our first full-length theatrical feature film, "The White Snake".

  • Start of our first animated television series "Ken, the Wild Boy".

  • Start of color broadcast, with the 18th episode of TV animation series "Sally, the Witch".

  • Establishment of TAVAC CO., LTD. as a subsidiary.
    Separation of some recording and editing sections.

  • Establishment of consolidated subsidiary EET-TOEI ANIMATION CORPORATION (company changed name to TOEI ANIMATION PHILS., INC in April 2000), an overseas production contracting company in a joint venturewith EEI of the Phillipines.

  • Shinjuku office relocated to Yokodera-machi, Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo and officially renamed the Shinjuku office.

  • Opening of Toei Animation Institute.

  • Establishment of TOEI ANIMATION ENTERPRISES LIMITED in Hong Kong as business base for Asia. (Becomes wholly-owned subsidiary in Jan. 2008.)

  • Company name changed to TOEI ANIMATION CO., LTD

  • Expansion of production network system to 21 companies.
    Construction of digitalized system using LCD tablets developed by CELSYS CO LTD.

  • TOEI ANIMATION CO., LTD gets listed on the JASDAQ stock exchange.

  • Establishment of TOEI ANIMATION MUSIC PUBLISHING (consolidated subsidiary).

  • Establishment of TOEI ANIMATION INCORPORATED (consolidated subsidiary) in Los Angeles, USA, as a business base for the Americas.

  • Establishment of TOEI ANIMATION S.A.S. (consolidated subsidiary) in Paris, France, as a business base for Europe and the Middle East.

  • Opening of TOEI ANIMATION SHANGHAI REPRESENTATIVE OFFICE in Shaghai, China as a base for information gathering.

  • Closing of Toei Animation Institute.

  • Shinjuku office relocated to Nakano, Nakano-ku, Tokyo, and officially renamed the Nakano Office.

  • Completion of New Oizumi Studio

  • Opening of the TOEI ANIMATION MUSEUM in Higashi-Oizumi, Nerima-ku, Tokyo
